When audiences watch a keynote speaker take the stage, they see the presentation.
What they don’t see is everything that happens beforehand.
At The Shark Group, I worked behind the scenes supporting the operations that powered Daymond John’s speaking business. Every event required careful coordination between clients, venues, travel schedules, internal teams, and marketing efforts to ensure every appearance ran seamlessly.
My role combined operations, project management, and marketing. I coordinated speaking engagements, managed client communications, prepared event materials, and helped organize the countless moving pieces that transformed booked opportunities into successful events.
Beyond event logistics, I supported business development by researching prospective clients, qualifying new leads, and maintaining HubSpot records that tracked more than half a million dollars in active speaking opportunities. I also contributed to marketing initiatives and campaign planning, gaining a firsthand understanding of how personal brands are managed behind the scenes.
The experience showed me that successful events aren’t built on what happens on stage—they’re built on the hundreds of small operational decisions made long before anyone steps into the spotlight.
On any given month, I helped coordinate approximately 20 keynote engagements, each with its own travel logistics, client requirements, timelines, and operational considerations. No two events were ever exactly alike.
